An Intimate Mentone Alabama Wedding

Kelly and Andrews wedding plans went through several changes over the past year.  But we have to say that the final plan could not have been any better!  We have had the pleasure of experiencing small, intimate weddings this year and we have to say that they are so special and meaningful!

On this particular fall day, the weather started out cool and sunny.  Atop Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama, overlooking the valley, the fall colors spread out over the beautiful landscape.  As the morning progressed, clouds began to move in and there was a light, unexpected rain shower.  Luckily it didn’t last long and the cloud coverage only enhanced the fall color and kept the temps nice and chilly.  It also provided a spectacular sunset!

Kelly and Andrew originally planned a church wedding in Franklin, Tennessee.  But this day was meant to be spent here, with just a few friends and family!  The quaint cabin where Kelly’s family has vacationed for the past 10 years was the perfect backdrop for celebrating hers and Andrews union.  It felt like a family reunion on holiday!

There were so many special touches implemented in the planning of this day.  Like the gorgeous florals designed by family friend, Andrea Johnson.  The wonderful and beautiful wedding cake made by non-other than Andrews mother, Sabine.  The grandmothers wedding band that was the inspiration in the design of Kelly and Andrews rings.  We love when we have so many special and meaningful details to include in photos.  We were even given a stack of texts books from the class in which Kelly and Andrew met.  Even the music from the violinist and cellist that played during the ceremony gave it a dreamy and romantic effect!  But we have to say that the most special detail was Kelley’s father, Mark, not only walking her down the aisle, alongside her mother, Sharon, but he also officiated.  You just don’t get more special than that!  There were scripture readings during the ceremony by Kelly’s and Andrew’s friends, Anna and Drew, Kelly’s mother and a close family friend, Caroline.  The entire day was directed and kept on track by a wonderful family friend, Fiona.  This day was what it was because of the love that every single person there put into it.  Had this year not been what it was, this day would have been very different.  In our opinion, this is one of the few things that 2020 got right!

Getting to know Kelly and Andrew over this past year has been such a pleasure.  We’ll never forget how they made us feel on the day of their engagement session!  We are usually the ones making sure the couple has a memorable experience.  But in fact they are the ones that made our day so memorable!  They are feel good people. Their wedding day was even more so because we had the pleasure of spending not just a couple of hours with them, but the entire day and with them and their entire family!   We felt more like part of that family than photographers for hire.

Thank you so much, Kelly and Andrew, for inviting us in!  Thank you for trusting us with your memories!  Thank you, Sharon and Mark and Sabine and Mark, for raising two most genuine and good people!  Kelly and Andrew were clearly made for each other and we sincerely believe the world is a better place now that they have found one another.

Love, Katie & Cindy
