Nia & Charodd Tie the Knot at The Barn at Shady Lane
Nia & Charodd
When we first met Nia & Rodd at their engagement session last year, we came away with the impression that they were quiet, reserved, athletic (like, crazy athletic! Roll Tide), kind, sincere and had a spirit that, when around them, just made you feel good. They were so easy to talk with! We enjoyed the fall day in downtown Birmingham and Railroad park and parted ways, staying in touch only through email over the course of the year leading up to their wedding day. October, 2019, finally arrived and it was time to meet up with Nia & Rodd again!
We arrived at the beautiful Barn at Shady Lane at the same time as Rodd. When we all got out of our cars, it was like we had just seen him the week before! Just the way we remembered Rodd with his gentle smile, he politely introduced us to his brothers, we chatted and then they headed to the groomsmen cottage and we headed up to the bridal suite to see Nia. And there she was! As gorgeous as ever! Precious was finishing up her make-up and she truly looked like a goddess! The room was full of beautiful women taking care of Nia and gearing up for the day! We immediately saw a different side of Nia. A take charge, in control, still quiet, but in command, Nia! Her spirit was stronger than ever! The weather outside was less than desirable and if it bothered Nia (which we doubted), it didn’t show. Because it didn’t matter! She was marrying the man of her dreams and weather was not a factor! And when she stepped into her wedding gown, the magic began!
The day went on beautifully! Everyone and everything was so elegant! Nia did look absolutely stunning in her wedding gown and then there was Charodd in his tux, WOW, these two together were breathtaking! The florals were incredible, the bar was amazing, the ceremony set up was jaw dropping, which was flipped afterwards (due to weather, the ceremony was moved indoors) and transformed into a reception hall like no other! We were pretty awe struck!
The ceremony was so very special! There was laughter (“….for rich or richer”! LOL, we are still laughing at that line, Nia!) there were (happy) tears and jumping (the broom)! It was everything and more! And then there was the reception! Man, this reception was one for the books!! This wedding party KNEW.HOW.TO.PARTY!! While Charodd stayed his cool, calm self with his sly smile and quiet confidence, we got to see yet ANOTHER side of Nia! The party Nia! She had changed out of her gown and into her full sequin jumper so that she could dance the night away! Her and everyone in the building, we believe, had the time of their lives!
On this day we came away differently than we did from their engagement session! We came away knowing Nia and Charodd are so much more than the quiet couple that we met in 2018! They are the real deal! They love life and life loves them! When they were single they were strong. Now that they are married, they are a force of nature!
Thank you so very much, Nia & Charodd! Thank you for inviting us in! Thank you for trusting us to document such an important and wonderful chapter in your lives! Thank you and your families for such kindness! Your day will be one we never forget! We hope that these images, and the ones to come, will remind you and Rodd of all the love that you received and that you gave on October 26, 2019!
