A Sweet Home Alabama Spring Wedding

Boshell Farm, Moundville, Alabama – Alec & Mattie (and Indy)

Going to Mattie and Alec’s wedding in Moundville, Alabama, was like going home to a beautiful family reunion.  The celebration took place at the beautiful farm and childhood home where Mattie grew up, complete with an amazing barn, the perfect pond, and acres of lush green grass surrounded by Alabama woods!

This was our first time to experience a wedding that took place at the actual home of the bride and her family and can we just say, it was wonderful?!  The love that this family and all their fabulous friends that all chipped in to create such a magical day, was so heartwarming!  Seeing Mattie, her sister, Sarah Kathryn, and the bride tribe sitting on the floor of their bedroom eating pizza truly looked like what we imagine their spend the night parties looked like not that long ago.  Mattie’s mom, Linda, was down in kitchen putting together the gorgeous wedding cake and putting the finishing touches on all the bouquets and boutonnieres, while dad, Jim, was running around looking for his belt.  It felt like home!

In the meantime, outside, so many friends and family had gathered to create what would be a grand party!  Stringing lights, draping flowly fabric, setting tables, putting together a dance floor, filling the barn with a magnificent buffet, lining the walkway with lovely candles in which the bride and groom would follow along the pond to the spot where they would exchange their vows.  Every person there had a job and each and everyone did it incredibly!  Even Indy, Mattie & Alec’s sweet fur baby, had someone watching over him for the day so that the couple would not have to worry about him.

This was so much more than your average wedding!  It was a family coming together to celebrate and shower love over a young couple beginning their lives together.  It was two families becoming one.  It was a community gathering to witness and be a (big) part of a couple that they have watched grow up and grow together.

We feel so honored to have played a part in this day!  We sincerely felt like part of the family!  Thank you so much, Mattie & Alec Owens and Jim & Linda Bonds, for the opportunity to document this monumental day in your lives and for making us feel so welcome.  We will always remember this day with love and affection.

Mattie & Alec, as you look back over these images (and the images to come) today and for years to come, we hope that you will feel all the love that surrounded you that day!

Didn’t find the belt until 2 weeks later but found great joy in hearing Mattie’s laughter throughout the day! It is my prayer that the wonder of this day will last forever for Mattie and Alec! Thanks for capturing the spirit and heart of this event in your pictures!
